about Anne White
I work out of a large, warm, self-contained private
space overlooking open countryside on the edge of the Brendon Hills
with ample car parking. My approach is psychoanalytic often with a period
of silent observation followed by discussion. My service is absolutely
confidential.
Practical and qualified experience with parents and children
I have been working with children (mostly pre-school) and families in
different contexts for nearly 40 years. These have included clinical,
residential (physical and mental disabilities), community and voluntary.
I qualified as a general nurse in London, as a midwife in Taunton and
as a Health Visitor in Bristol.
After a career break as a fulltime dairy farmer’s wife & mother
of two children, I returned to Health Visiting in Somerset.
My curiosity as to why children sometimes behave as they do led me to
undertake post graduate studies: a diploma in emotional development
from a psychoanalytic perspective (psychoanalytic observational studies)
with a special interest in its relevance to breastfeeding, followed
by an intermediate certificate in Family Therapy and Systemic practise.
For several years I worked as part of a family therapy team with the
Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in West Somerset.
Observing the reciprocal communication that goes on between a parent
and their baby I realised the wider benefits of infant massage and qualified
as an instructor. I have also done the Massage in Schools Programme
Training.
I continue to update my practice and qualifications by attending appropriate
seminars, courses and conferences annually, in particular those relevant
to attachment difficulties in families of younger children.
I am a member of The Royal College of Nursing, The Association of Infant
Mental Health UK and The International Association of Infant Massage
UK. |
